We are the online store of Farmácia Serrano, in Lousã. Behind this site there is a pharmacy with its doors open, a team of pharmacists and four generations of the same family.
THE STORY
It started at home, in a March when no pharmacy was open
March 2020. Teresa Leal had just become a mother for the first time and the country was in lockdown.
The questions were the usual ones in those first weeks: whether the baby is latching properly, what to do about the evening colic, why sleep does not happen the way the books describe it. What was missing was somewhere to ask them.
Teresa is the fourth generation of Farmácia Serrano and the daughter of Marina Pinto Leal, its current superintendent pharmacist. She grew up behind the counter, watching advice being given on the spot. Even so, she found herself at home with a baby in her arms and her phone in her hand, looking for answers in forums where nobody knew her.
There were plenty of online shops selling baby products. There was not one with someone on the other side.
My Skin Concept was born for the mothers who do not have the family pharmacy close at hand.

We are not a product warehouse
Most online baby care shops are a catalogue, a basket and a distribution centre. The products may be the same. What changes is who stands behind them.

On the other side is Rafaela, in customer support. She is the one who receives your messages and answers you first.
When the question calls for advice, the answer comes from one of the pharmacists at Farmácia Serrano. Several are mothers. On a difficult latch, on atopic skin that will not settle, or on supplements while preparing for pregnancy, they speak from two places at once: from what they studied and from what they lived.
That is why we advise on preconception, pregnancy, the postpartum period, breastfeeding and baby care, and not only on the product in your basket.
